Travelling around the world? Postcards, fridge magnets, scarves — they’re such mundane souvenirs! Why choose these when you can bring back some whacky and fantabulous items? Let’s look at a few crazy souvenirs this month.
Coffee with a twist
With the official title of being the most expensive coffee in the world, ‘Kopi Luwak’ is a nice buy if you’re in Indonesia. What sets this coffee apart is how it is produced — from the poop of a creature called the palm civet! This cat-like creature is literally the main producer of this coffee — they eat the ripe coffee berries and expel them out as faeces. This is collected, washed, dried, roasted and packed for a price of nearly $1000 for a kilo of this one-of-its-kind coffee powder. Remember to ensure buying it from farms that deal in ethical practices and fair treatment of civets.
