A 10/10 for Ajaz Patel
Who do you think are the most dangerous bowlers in cricket, pacers or spinners? If you ever thought that the answer lies in the fast bowlers then cricket statistics would make you rethink. In the list of those who have bagged the maximum number of Test wickets the three top names are those of spinners: Muttiah Muralitharan, Shane Warne and Anil Kumble, and now we have three spinners who form a select band of bowlers who have bagged all the ten wickets in a Test innings.
Jim Laker of England was the first to earn the distinction when he took ten Australian wickets at Manchester in 1956 in the third innings of the match as Australia was made to follow on by England and a fourth innings was never required in the match. Anil Kumble bagged ten wickets against Pakistan at the Feroz Shah Kotla ground in 1999, once again in the last innings of the Test match and now the latest addition in the select band is Ajaz Patel of New Zealand.
