Childhood: The thing I miss most in me
Remember how curious you were as a child? How you refused to colour the sky with a blue crayon just because you saw an orange sunset while coming back home? How you would question our existence in this universe and what happens when we become stars in sky?
Remember how dreamy you were as a child? You would stare for hours at the cuckoo making a nest that was visible from between the branches of the tree. You would command your dad to chase the moon while standing in front of the scooter’s seat and insist that mom tell you all about the old woman living in the moon creating all the black patches visible to the naked eye.
Remember how artsy you were as a child? The walls would be your canvas and mud from the garden your clay. Your dolls would have the trendiest hairstyles and big colouring books would always be your favourite presents. You begged the painter to let you paint a tiny corner of your room’s walls and how you would steal a tiny portion off your mother’s fabric colours in those sneaky afternoons.
Remember how kind and forgiving you were as a child? You used to keep a biscuit every day for that dog that would follow you home. You would stand quietly in the corner near the gate when your parents were late to pick you up from school.
Remember how courageous you were as a child? You didn’t cry when that girl with her big sister bullied you in school. Instead you walked up to your class teacher and told her about it. You would fall down numerous times while playing hide ‘n’ seek, and yet you never gave up running around like a ninja every evening.
So, what happened?
What did you do to yourself?
Where did you hide that exuberance, that absolutely euphoric inner kid in you? Those little dreams you used to see as a child that would make your eyes twinkle and your face sparkle; they were enough to light up the night sky.
Take out that wild side of you, the one you’ve kept under covers since a long time, and dare you let adulthood dull your sparkle! Dream and laugh and dance and jump and never ever stop believing in magic.
