Don’t quit

You must teach your sense of self,
To stand upon its own two feet,
Instead of propped up on the views
Of every person that you meet.

When things go wrong as they sometimes will,
When the road you’re trudging seems uphill,
When chances are low but hopes are high,
And you want to smile, but you have to sigh,
When care is pressing you down a bit,
Rest if you must but don’t quit.

Success is failure turned inside out
The silver lining of the clouds of doubt,
And you can never tell how close you are,
It may be near when it seems afar,
So stick to the fight when you are hardest hit,
It’s when things seem worst you mustn’t quit.

Some days are better, some days are worse,
Look for the blessing instead of the curse.
Be positive, stay strong, and get enough rest,
You can’t give it all but you can give it your best.
