Exams at the threshold
Exams are here again! Examinations are inevitable in a student’s life. It is only natural that one feels a sort of nervousness before an exam. The anxiety about what sort of questions one will face, and how one will fare when the results are announced are all part of it. Exams are not a hurdle but stepping stones to go up in life. Monarose Sheila Pereira, in her article this month, gives tips to cope with stress during exams and suggests right ways of preparation with proper diet, exercise, music and sleep of course. Many fall victim to procrastination and the stress that accompanies it. Students with a clearly defined study schedule who periodically evaluate their performance and progress will find themselves better equipped for exams. Examinations are not only meant to test our knowledge but also to help us thoroughly absorb it in our minds so that we can make use of it in our career and life.
Some people consider that academic performance is the only or best way to success but we do learn a great deal from teachers, colleagues and life situations as well. Our life itself is an examination where everyone is a winner. “There is no end to education. It is not that you read a book, pass an examination, and finish with education. The whole of life, from the moment you are born to the moment you die, is a process of learning,” says Jiddu Krishnamurthy. Success levels in life will vary depending on one’s capacity to grasp and express, and willingness to work hard with a positive attitude and creativity.
Start-up revolutions catching up with great speed and getting widespread is convincingly illustrated by Pearl D’Souza in the cover story. The Under 25 Club testifies to the fact that youth today create jobs rather than seek jobs. It is proven that there are several job opportunities in various sectors for persons even without a formal education. Amazing Women: Knocking Out Challenges by Joanne D’Souza gives true examples of success stories of women who fascinate and challenge us.
Everyone can script his or her success story in life provided one is open to the lessons in life and willing to be disciplined and hard working. Your education is the source of light that will show you the way. The greatest examination you face is your own life. Decide for yourself what you want to be in life and be focused. How intelligently do you script your success story? Do your best and forget the rest. The decision is yours.
