Poets & Poetry

From what I could tell,
It wasn’t meant to be followed,
The piper whose path I tracked,
Was one of sorrow.
There was no happiness,
There was no light,
There were a lot of folks,
But none of them were guides.
They did laugh and seemed
Glad and happy, of course,
But yet I was on a path,
Of guilt, shame and remorse,
That figment of my youth,
Had faded while I was gone.
Oh, I was gone long and far,
I was gone to reach the stars,
I was lost while I was there,
While my childhood died in despair.
