I think
by Khyati Shyam

I think I’ve spent too long hating my face
So I’m just gonna accept it that way.
I think I’ve spent too long grumbling over my hair
So now I’m gonna give them that care.
I think I’ve spent too long crying over my imperfect figure
So now I’m gonna open myself to a bigger picture.
I think I’ve spent too long sulking over my complexion
So now I’m gonna give them that affection.
I think I’ve spent too long being angry over my eyes
So now I’m gonna love the world they hold inside.
I think I’ve mentioned too much of my false parts
So now I’m gonna give it all a new start.
I think I have a beautiful soul
That has so many stories to unfold.
I think I have a pretty smile
For it makes my parents’ worries go away for a while.
I think I’ve got a strong personality
For it’s ready to face all the cruel realities.
But above all that
I think I have a caring heart
For it still hopes in spite of being broken apart!
