I want to become an Indian Foreign Officer

I am a student of Std IX. My aim is to become an Indian Foreign Officer (IFS). What subjects do I need to take after Std X? What should be my preparation for it if I start from now? What are the higher studies needed for this? Please guide me.

Indian Foreign Service officers primarily represent the country in the international arena. They are responsible for the administration and activities of Indian missions abroad, and for the framing and implementation of the government’s foreign policy.

The Indian Foreign Service Examination consists of two successive stages: Civil Services Aptitude Test (CSAT) which consists of two objective type papers — GS paper-I & GS paper-II and Main Exam consisting of a written test and an interview. The eligibility for this exam is graduation in any stream. The examinations are conducted by UPSC (upsc.gov.in).

After Std X, you still have five years before you can apply for CSAT. To become familiar with the preparation, subscribe to a magazine that is focused on this exam and read it regularly. Reading the newspapers every day for the latest happenings all over the globe and having good general knowledge are very essential. Do multiple choice questions (of your level) to help you improve quick decision making and clearing your concepts. Also take only those subjects in 10+2 that you like and can spend hours studying.
