Inner peace

In today’s world, talking about mental health has become critical. The stigma around mental illness needs to be broken. I’m sure all of us at some point, have heard: “This is all just in your mind, be happy” or “You are overreacting, some people have it worse than you”. What people fail to understand is, just because someone may be dealing with something worse than me, doesn’t mean my struggle isn’t difficult. Sometimes we ourselves think: “Maybe I’m overreacting”, “Maybe I’m exaggerating; I don’t see people around me struggling”. Let me break this bubble of yours; EVERYONE, EVERYONE is struggling in their own way. You have every right to feel the way you are feeling. You may feel as if you are making it all about yourself, you are being self-centred, but this couldn’t be further from the truth.

You have every right to feel the way you are feeling. You may feel as if you are making it all about yourself, you are being self-centred, but this couldn’t be further from the truth.

When you feel down or low, talking about it can make it better. It may feel like no one cares, but that’s not true. Talk about your feelings with your family or friends; they may not have all the answers you are seeking, but talking about your emotions helps in relieving your stress and anxiety. Do whatever you want to do to relieve the stress — dance, sing, draw, listen to music, watch your favourite show, cook, bake, eat your favourite chocolate or ice cream, cry out loud or even sit looking at a blank wall the whole day! But whatever you do, do it for your inner peace. Do not let anyone rent a space in your head unless they are good tenants.

Focus on yourself! Be selfish! Be happy (try)!
