I am a Std XI student. I am currently preparing for IIT-JEE. I would like some information on Meteorological Engineering. Is there a good scope in this field?

Meteorological Engineers are also known as Atmospheric and Space Scientists. They investigate atmospheric phenomena and interpret meteorological data, gathered by surface and air stations, satellites, and radar to prepare reports and forecasts for public and other uses.
There are two ways to enter into this field: Pursue a 3-year B.Sc. Meteorology/Physics/Mathematics/Computer Science followed by M.Sc. Meteorology/ Atmospheric Sciences. Otherwise go for a 4-year B.Tech. in Atmospheric Sciences.
There are good prospects for this career due to the advent of global warming and increasing occurrence of natural disasters like tsunamis. Apart from environmental concerns, knowledge of meteorology is used in other fields like agriculture, construction, energy production, military and transport. You’ll find employment in several sectors such as meteorological departments, space organizations, research and development areas related to weather and climate departments, planetary sciences, etc. There are good opportunities for overseas assignment to military bases and outposts throughout the world.
