I used to have a boring sense of fashion. I wore my dad’s XL sized T-shirts and a pair of skinny jeans to college. My LBD was probably the only stylish outfit I owned. And then I met my soul sister. She taught me something about fashion and that is layering! Just adding a normal shrug can make your outfit look so amazing. And not just that, layering also saves you from wardrobe malfunctions. But why just layer for the sake of it? Why not just make layers stylish?
Be it any season, layering makes you look waaaaay cooler and you get to give your old outfits a new look altogether. And it’s not just about layering clothes, it’s also about layering accessories. All you need to do is get some layering essentials and put together your outfits. Here is a list of layering essentials and tips to use them.
1. Denim Jacket/Vest
A basic denim jacket or vest always saves the day. It’s a must have! You can pair it with anything and everything. It never fails to make a statement. It’ll always be the definition of cool. It’s pretty versatile.
TIP: Add a touch of denim to your dresses. Pair it with a cute summer dress or maxi dress.
2. Ponchos
Ponchos are back in trend and they look amazing as usual. The market is full of ponchos. You can pick a lace or crochet poncho and style it up. Preferably go for a pastel-coloured poncho. It’ll make your ensemble look elegant.
TIP: Pair a poncho with a saree to make it look indo-western. You can also wear it over a body-con dress.
3. Army Jacket
The classic army colour/print jacket can transform your outfit and make you look dressy. It goes well with the badass look. Not just that! You can dress down your outfit by adding an army jacket.
TIP: You can play with your outfit by adding the army jacket to make your party dress look like a day outfit.
4. Crochet Tops
Crochet tops are always in vogue. All you need to do is to dig out all your crochet tops and start pairing them with your outfits. Crochet tops go with your casual, formal as well as party outfit.
TIP: You can add a crochet top on top of your dress and make it look casual wear. Add a waist belt to make it look like a party outfit.
5. Plaid Shirts
Plaid shirts are basic casual wear layering essential. They look rich and can pep up a boring outfit. They look stylish and can be experimented with. It can dress up your outfit.
TIP: Add a plaid shirt to your jeans and tank top and make it a classic tomboy outfit.
