Most recognizable place for astronauts
Great Exuma Island in the Bahamas is one of the most recognizable places on the planet for astronauts aboard the International Space Station. The distinct lines of the tidal channels cut between the small emerald island cays stand out even from the 400 km-high orbit of the space station. The channels have been carved out of the rock ridge over millennia, thanks to the relentless daily ebb and flow of the Atlantic Ocean tides across the tropical island chain.
