My parents make fun of me
My parents always make fun of me. This makes me very disheartened and discouraged. I have been made the captain of my house team in school. This needs a lot of self-confidence to cope with the responsibilities and the pressures of being a captain. They say I cannot be a good captain and there is no use of being a captain. I don’t know how to tell them that I get affected by their words. They are always saying that I am a burden on them and that no one should have a child like me. This hurts me very much. I am always supported by my best friends in every right step of my life, but no one tries to understand me in my family. What should I do?
Sany (14)
Dear Sany, it is shocking to read that your parents always make fun of you, that you are “a burden on them” and that “no one should have a child like” you! A child learns to love from the love he receives from his parents; it gives them a sense of security and courage. I do not know the reason for such a negative attitude towards you and I suggest you share your problem with a close relation whom you trust or with a teacher or school counsellor. They may be able to talk to your parents and help them to change their attitude.
