My parents are over-protective
My parents are so overprotective that they don’t give me any privacy. They bought me a new laptop but refused to let me use it till two years from now. I don’t have a mobile phone because that too is in my mom and dad’s locker. I am not allowed to go to my friend’s house even for studies. I feel insulted in my friends’ group. I am frustrated. I don’t know how to deal with my cruel parents.

Dear Rohan, parents are meant to provide love and security to their children. In your case, you feel frustrated by their attitude of “overprotection” and now you judge them as “cruel”. Did you enter into a respectful dialogue with them in order to understand the reasons of their behaviour? Did they try to explain to you their expectations? Are you doing well in your studies or failing in your exams? These and other points should be brought out in a frank family dialogue in order to find a solution, maybe with the help of a good family friend or relative.
