Weird & Wonderful

Not your usual summer beach activities

As the sun sizzles, the month of May finds people rushing to the beaches if they live along the coast. Playing in the water and building sandcastles are the usual activities one might think of, but for some beach visitors there are other exciting things to try out. Let’s take a look at those activities that add a fun twist for beachgoers.

Selfies with planes

Hanging out at Maho Beach in Anguilla is not for the faint-hearted. This is because it is very close to Princess Juliana International Airport. Apparently, planes fly up and close here — close enough to take cool selfies with them. Tourists have also found the best time to catch some of the “biggies” flying down from Canada and the United States — between 1 and 4 p.m. For plane lovers, this beach promises hours of entertainment and plenty of cool shots to post on Instagram.
