A pandastic joke!

In 2009, Taipei Times, Taiwan’s leading newspaper, had some baffling news for its readers. It claimed that there was a setback in relations between Taiwan and China due to the pandas in Taipei Zoo. Though a gift from China, these pandas were not what they seemed, claimed the newspaper. They were forest bears painted white and black to resemble pandas. Readers found it funny, but China was not amused, demanding an apology for the outrageous joke.
