He and I were really good friends

I liked a guy who I know for the past 3 years. He and I were really good friends. A few weeks ago I told him how I felt, as it got harder for me to handle those feelings. His answer was “claps” which I found rude. Still I did not mind and wanted to maintain the good friendship that we had. But since then he stopped replying to my messages, did not pick up my calls. In short, he started ignoring me. I don’t know what has happened. Please help.
Rochelle

Dear Rochelle, that boy was your good friend for the past 3 years. Slowly you started having different feelings for him, and it got harder to handle them. Therefore, you felt the need to tell him openly how you felt. What you wanted to tell him is that you are not able to continue this relationship as before and want to enter into a more personal and loving relationship: to start a love story. You felt his reaction to be rude. He clearly never thought about you as more than a friend and got upset with your change of attitude and expectations and started ignoring you. This situation may lead to the end of your relationship with him as you are on two different paths. Tell him that you are ready to respect his feelings and be satisfied with just being friends. If he does not accept your explanation he may decide to end his relationship with you.
