Retro: The New Fad

Retro is the new craze! The 80’s and 90’s trends are back with a modern touch. Here’s a list of some of the best and newest retro looks of the year.

In recent years, retro trends have been making a comeback and it seems like these trends are here to stay. Retro trends have been coming back for years but this year they came back with a bang! We saw the fashion focus switching from deep necks to off shoulders. Low necklines are out. Shoulders, collar bones and wrists are the new sexy! Gladiators, tassels, bell sleeve tops and denims are in vogue!

So here’s a list of some of my favourite retro trends and tips to style ‘em. Happy styling! 🙂

1. Chokers
Unlike the name they don’t choke you! They bring your well-defined collar bones into focus. Wear a basic choker with any outfit and tie your hair back to make it look trendy.

Fringe tassel top

2. Dungarees
Remember those dungarees your mom dressed you in when you were young? Well, they’re back in style. Get a pair of basic denim dungarees and pair with a striped full-sleeved top or a pastel coloured crop top for a chic look.

Round sunglasses

3. Fringe/tassels
Earrings, tops, shrugs, skirts, bags, shoes and tassels… they look amazing! Tops and skirts with tassels will make you want to twirl and show them off. Tassels pep up your plain outfit and make it stylish. Pair a basic plain top with tassels with skinny jeans/pants and a leather jacket. Time to twirl!

4. Round sunglasses
Those round mirrored sunglasses that stars would wear back in the 70s, 80s and 90s are back. So pick your favourite mirrored round sunglasses and shield yourself from the sunlight while you sashay around. The best thing about them is that they suit almost everyone.
