What is the scope for Home Science?

I am thinking of taking up a B.Sc. in Home Science after Std 12. What is the scope for Home Science?

Depending on your specialisation, a degree in Home Science offers job opportunities in catering departments of hotels, resorts, flight kitchens, in food processing industries, food research institutions, child development clinics, family welfare/counselling clinics, in the textile industry and as a nutritionist/dietician in hospitals, nursing homes, etc. Those with a post-graduation in Home Science or an additional qualification in a related field may work as food analysts, food scientists or food technologists in domestic and large-scale food industries, distilleries and soft drink factories.

The prospects are good whether in a job or on one’s own as the services industry is the one which is looking up these days and Home Science is one of the prime providers of services.
